everyone needs a place. the notion of sanctuary is essential to our well-being. even the poorest will acknowledge some marked zone which is protected and construed as inviolate. this work deals symbolically with these zones-of-peace for the spirit and the senses. the sanctuaries are a deliberate counterpoint to violence and unnatural destruction.
